While the Upstate may not get a white Christmas, the region more than makes up for it with festive holiday traditions and ice skating is at the top of the list! This year, several outdoor rinks have popped up, giving residents and visitors the chance to enjoy ice skating!
Whether you’re a seasoned skater or a complete beginner, these rinks are a perfect way to enjoy the winter weather fun without leaving the warmth of the South. Here's where you can lace up your skates this holiday season in Greenville, SC and around the Upstate, plus a year-round option for skating enthusiasts!
United Community Ice on Main (Greenville)
A winter staple in downtown Greenville, the United Community Ice on Main is a must-visit during the holiday season. This outdoor rink transforms Village Green (206 S. Main St., Greenville) into a magical winter wonderland. Already opened now and running through January 19, 2026, it’s the perfect spot for family outings, date nights, or just some solo skating fun.
Hours:
Monday-Friday: 2-9 p.m.
Saturday-Sunday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Holiday Hours (Dec. 16 - Jan. 3): 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily
Tickets:
$10 per hour for ages 3 and up (free for children 2 and under)
Skating on The Big Ice (Greenville)
For a unique skating experience, don’t miss Skating on the Big Ice at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena (650 N. Academy St., Greenville). This seasonal event lets you skate on the same ice used for hockey games and concerts.

December 22: 3 p.m.
December 23: Noon and 3 p.m.
December 29: 3 p.m.
December 30: Noon and 3 p.m.
Tickets:
$16.88 per person, which includes skate rentals and two hours of skating.
Ice in the Park (Anderson)
Located in the heart of Anderson at Carolina Wren Park (111 E. Whitner St.), Ice in the Park is an affordable and family-friendly destination. The rink is now open through January 4, offering a cozy setting for holiday fun.

Monday-Friday: 5-9 p.m.

Night of Lights (Simpsonville)
For a full holiday experience, head to Simpsonville’s Night of Lights at Heritage Park (861 S.E. Main St.). This annual event combines a walk-through light display, a petting zoo, carnival rides, and an ice skating rink — making it a hit for all ages. The event kicked off last November 21st and continues through December 31st.

Sunday-Thursday: 5-9 p.m.
Friday-Saturday: 5-10 p.m.
Admission:
$12 for ages 5-15 | $15 for ages 16 and up

Founders Holiday Ice Rink (Rock Hill)
A bit farther out, but well worth the drive, the Founders Holiday Ice Rink in Rock Hill offers a festive skating experience across from Fountain Park (205 Saulda St.). Open now through January 15, it’s an excellent option for both locals and visitors.

Tuesday-Thursday: 5-8 p.m.
Friday: 5-9:30 p.m.
Saturday: Noon-9:30 p.m.
Sunday: Noon-8 p.m.
Tickets:
$15 for a 1.5-hour skating session
Pavilion Recreation Complex (Taylors)
If you can’t get enough of skating or prefer to avoid the seasonal crowds, check out the year-round indoor ice rink at the Pavilion Recreation Complex (400 Scottswood Rd., Taylors). This facility offers public skate sessions no matter the season, making it a great alternative for when the holiday rinks are packed.
