Greenville is gearing up for an amazing new festival: Greenville Jazz Fest
Get ready to embrace the summer vibes as Greenville gears up for an exciting new festival: Greenville Jazz Fest! This event, which will take place on June 3rd, will feature national acts such as the Grammy award-winning Rebirth Brass Band and Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, as well as local jazz ensembles such as The Tish Oney Jazz Orchestra featuring Greenville Jazz Collective Big Band, Illiana Rose Cuban Jazz Band, and The Wheel All Stars.
Mark June 3 on your calendars because that day downtown Greenville will come alive. Starting at 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., the first Jazz Fest will take center stage. With two stages along Main Street and various food trucks and drink options.
Through collaborations with local music venues including Horizon Records, Chicora Alley, and Rainer’s Café and Bar, the festival will spread beyond downtown. Throughout the weekend, several additional venues will present exciting jazz concerts, ensuring the spirit of jazz resonates throughout the city.
Furthermore, Jazz Fest is very dedicated to supporting youth music education. The city has scheduled JazzEd Sessions at community centers such Juanita Butler, Nicholtown, and West Greenville in cooperation with the Greenville Jazz Collective. Children have the chance to learn about the instruments that make jazz possible as well as its history during these sessions. Additionally, the All-County Jazz Ensemble, comprised of gifted students from five GCS schools, and the Fine Arts Center Jazz All-Stars will give outstanding performances for the audience.
For over three years, city officials have been working on this. They’re planning to make Greenville Jazz Fest a two-day event in 2024, with more performers, a larger presence in all of Greenville’s music venues, and more on-site events and educational opportunities.
