Greenville, SC Makes ‘Condé Nast Traveler’ List of Best Small Cities in the U.S.

The Condé Nast Traveler magazine announced the winners of its 33rd annual Readers’ Choice Awards and Greenville, SC was named one of the Top 10 Best Small Cities in the U.S.

Greenville once again found itself in the top ten of the travel publication’s Top U.S. Small Cities, this year taking the No. 6 spot.

The Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running recognition of excellence in the travel industry. It has been running for more than three decades and also one of the most prestigious. The best city rankings were split into two categories small cities (with populations under 250,000) and large cities.

In the best small cities in the U.S. category,  Greenville vaulted to the 6th position this year from its previous ranking at number 9 in 2019. The city of Greenville has been included in the Top U.S. Small Cities for 4 years in a row now.

Charleston and Greenville were the only South Carolina cities to make this list along with some of the most remarkable cities in the U.S.

Want to get in on a secret? Plan a trip to Greenville now and you might see it just on the cusp of stardom. The food lover’s town has a farm-to-table scene that continues to rise in the ranks (try Jianna for Italian and freshly shucked oysters, and Vault & Vator, the city’s first speakeasy, for a strong, well-crafted cocktail)—not to mention its rapid rise as a destination for craft beer-lovers. With a dynamic mix of urban center paired with abundant natural resources, walk off your food coma in 32-acre Falls Park, which runs through the middle of town, or along the Swamp Rabbit bike trail—now at a whopping 22 miles and counting. ~ Condé Nast

Greenville Mayor Knox White expressed pride at Greenville’s continual inclusion on Condé Nast Traveler’s list. “One of Greenville’s greatest strengths is its natural beauty, walkability, and urban greenspace,” he said. “People are ready to safely be outside. A bike ride along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, a stroll through Falls Parks and outdoor dining along Main Street are just what the doctor ordered. Greenville is ready to welcome new and repeat visitors. Our place on this prestigious list will hasten our economic recovery.”
