SACRA Trails Now Open for Bikers and Hikers

Good news, adventure seekers—the Saluda Confluence Recreation Area (SACRA) is officially open in Greenville County, right near Travelers Rest. This new spot is a go-to destination for bikers and hikers who want a mix of challenge and relaxation. With 20 miles of trails designed for both communities, it’s built for sharing the outdoors without feeling crowded.
This new outdoor amenity is the result of a partnership between the Upstate Greenways and Trails Alliance, Carolina Trailworks, and property owners Mary Beth and Nathan Galbreath. With 20 miles of trails, it’s designed for both bikers and hikers to enjoy forests, river views, and peaceful escapes.
The recreation area currently spans 300 acres, though the property itself covers about 850 acres, giving plenty of room for future expansion, according to UGATA.
Here’s what makes SACRA special:
-
Shared trails: Designed for both bikers and hikers
-
Scenic variety: Hills, forests, and river views
-
Community-led: Built by local trail groups with conservation in mind
-
Free access (for now): While it’s planned as a future fee-entry park, it’s currently free to use as the permanent trailhead gets developed
Trails Tailored for Bikers
SACRA offers a mix of flowy singletrack, climbs, and natural features. Riders of all skill levels will find something fun—from beginner-friendly loops to technical sections that get your adrenaline pumping.
Peaceful Paths for Hikers
Not into biking? The trails are equally inviting for hikers. Expect shady forest walks, riverside stretches along the Saluda, and open meadows perfect for a quiet stroll or a family outing. With well-marked signs and maps at the trailhead, it’s easy to find your pace and just enjoy the scenery.
