Brief History of Easley, SC

In the late 1800s, General William King Easley persuaded officials from the Charlotte-to-Atlanta Airline Railroad to lay a track through town. In 1874, a charter was granted to the town. Then Mayor Robert Elliot Holcombe established a depot for the rail road company. The textile industry in Pickens County began to thrive with the advent of the railroad. The industry was the backbone of the economy growth in the area and continues to prosper until mid-1900s.

Easley is a city in Pickens County. Most of the city lies in Pickens County with small parts of the city in Anderson County.  Easley, SC is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is located between Greenville and Liberty, South Carolina along Highway 123 and 93. It is 12 miles west of Greenville, SC via US-123 S and about 2 hours away from bigger cities like Atlanta and Charlotte.
