Fountain Inn is a small town filled with historic landmarks. The city got its name from the old inn with a fountain that was the most popular place for travelers looking to rest from the long journeys between Greenville and Columbia. The town was officially chartered in 1886. By this time, Fountain Inn encompassed a post office built in 1832, a two-room schoolhouse, and three stores, owned by the Holland family, the Cannon family, and the Kellett family. The Cannon family has contributed a lot to the building of the town, residents in the area almost named the town “Cannonville” in honor of the Cannon family.

Nestled in the foothills of the Upstate, Fountain Inn is only minutes from the mountains and a couple of hours from the coast, it is a charming city in the heart of an incredibly scenic state.
