Fork Shoals Elementary school has operated for more than a century, with known history extending as far as 1800s. Today, the elementary school is an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program school. The PYP program prepares students to become active, caring, and lifelong learners. The program incorporates local and global issues in the curriculum that develop student’s academic, social and emotional well being, focusing on international-mindedness and strong personal values.
Fork Shoals also has a very active PTA. The school has been selected as a National PTA School of Excellence. It was one of the first recipients of this award in 2002. Apart from this recognition, the school is also recognized for its academic achievements. It is a recipient of multiple awards including Palmetto Silver Award, Red Carpet School, Safe School Award.
